Greetings fellow Islanders! I really feel for BigBear, his feeling of defeat and I have seen for myself how he has been down-beaten over and over, justified or not. I have sat up here in my perch on Forest Road for 4 years. All I have ever done on this forum is bitch about this and that ( as far as I can recall) and I am embarrassed to admit it now to you all. On the other hand it was always well intended and out of concern.

For what it's worth, the opportunity to live here where I and my neighbors are was and is the best thing that has happened to me in my adult life. I recently have undergone a MAJOR set-back with a neighbor that hurt me to the core. However, even though it has taken DAYS to try and get past this, I think that I have. Where we all happen to be located at the peak of YBI is unique and exquisite. Open air and a parklike enviro. But most importantly - a shared - SHARED - enviro. We don't have the "luxury" of private back-yards up here. We have to depend on one another to be adult and respect each other's space - once again non-private and SHARED. But we are generally a family of our own, which makes this concept even MORE special.

For history's sake and not to toot my horn, I just happened to be the first one to move onto this road, without electricity or neighbors for a month. In DECEMBER when it is dark and scary and creepy at night. A funny story for you on this note. On my midweek birthday that year in '99, I was on the back porch in my bathrobe and on the phone to my best friend Teri. Just chatting. The Villages had set me up with a generator for power, BTW.

Anyway, she and I were chatting away and I saw the cops driving down the back access road behind my place. They had the searchlight out and scouring the bushes and trees. I whispered "I think they are looking for a killer or something Teri!!". Then they pulled around and came back up the road. I ran down in my bathrobe asking "Did you find Him???" Him who, they said?? Turns out they were just looking for pine boughs and cones to decorate the office down on TI.

Enough for now - but I LOVE IT HERE and thank my lucky stars to share this with you!
